Clinton C. Gibbs Jr.

August 16, 1951 — April 12, 2024

Clinton C. Gibbs Jr., a cherished member of the Hamilton community, passed away on Friday, April 12, 2024, at the age of 72. Raised in Vidor, Texas, Clinton later called Nederland his home before settling in Hamilton, Alabama, where he spent the last decade of his life.

Clinton lived a life marked by service, both to his country and his community. He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force before embarking on a fulfilling career as a retired Fina/Total operator. Beyond his professional endeavors, Clinton was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Nederland, where his faith and sense of community flourished.

In his leisure time, Clinton found joy and camaraderie on the tennis and racquetball courts, where he honed his skills and forged lasting friendships. However, his greatest source of happiness came from spending quality time with his beloved grandchildren and cherished family members. His love and presence will forever be missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Clinton is survived by his loving wife, Janet Gibbs of Hamilton; his son, Robert "B.J." Gibbs of Groves, Texas; sisters Trudy Verdine and husband Wayne of Beaumont, Nancy Gibbs of Wildwood, Stella Welborn and husband Kenny of Gladewater, and Terry Hamilton of Mauriceville; brothers Wesley Gibbs and wife Edna of Milam, TX, Guy Gibbs and wife Darlene of Vidor, and Calvin Gibbs and fiancée of Vidor; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He is also survived by his extended family: Audry, Ed, Sean, Nathan, Reid Goodwin, Wes, Bruna Nicholson, Logan and Ella Matheson, Peyton, Amanda, Isla, Abilene, and Locke Nickolson, Angela Nicholson, Michael Turpen, Gabrielle and Jaycee Welch.

Clinton leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion, exemplified by his grandchildren Robert, Noah, and Eden Gibbs of Florida, along with his great-granddaughter. Though he may no longer be with us in body, his spirit lives on in the hearts of those he touched.
