Allie Evelyn Cedars Young

Evelyn Young, 87, of Vidor died Sunday, November 15, 2009 at Silsbee Oaks Healthcare in Silsbee. Born April 11, 1922 in Montrose, LA., she has lived in Vidor since 1954. She was employed by Vidor ISD for 23 years at the Vidor Elementary Campus, where she retired in 1983 as a cafeteria manager. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 19, 2009 at United Pentecostal Church of Bridge City under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor, with burial to follow at Restlawn Memorial Park in Vidor. Visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 18, 2009 at Memorial Funeral Home. Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband Oswald Young, brother Asvell Cedars, and her sister Lou L. Hayes Sumler. She is survived by her sons Rev. Maxey Young and wife Frances of Broomfield, CO., and Russell Young and wife Lynn of Mauriceville, sisters Georgia Coleman and husband Jim of Luling, LA., and Margie Lawrence and husband Troy of Simpson, LA., eight grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, a host of nephews, nieces and countless friends. To know Evelyn is to love her. She was a selfless individual who always put others before herself. Her family was her life. Her love knew no bounds for her family or for friends. Her church family was close to her heart. Although, Alzheimers Disease overtook Evelyn in the last years of her life, she still made you laugh and enjoy being in her presence. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her.

2:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 19, 2009 at United Pentecostal Church of Bridge City, 2056 Roundbunch Rd., Bridge City, Texas
