Pistol Thomas, 86, of Vidor passed away Saturday, January 2, 2010 at Inwood Crossing Nursing Home in Tomball, TX.. He was born July 5, 1923 in Gist, TX. A lifelong resident of Vidor, he was owner-operator of the Mobil and Texaco service stations in Vidor. He was a member of Pine Forest Baptist Church in Vidor. He was a World War II Army veteran having served in the European Theatre and received a Purple Heart Medal for wounds received by hostile enemy action in Germany. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 5, 2010 with Dr. Stephen Dollar and Rev. David Hall officiating the services at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor, with burial to follow at Williamson Cemetery in Vidor. Visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, January 4, 2010 at Memorial Funeral Home. Pistol was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years Claudine Williamson Thomas, parents Henry Oliver Thomas and mother Zadie Peveto Thomas, brother Buck Thomas, sisters Alice Graham and Lonie Wallace, and one granddaughter Kimberly Sharpe Merrell. He is survived by his daughters Evelyn Sharpe and husband Dale of Vidor, and Alani Thomas Frizzell and husband Tommy of Houston, brothers Bill Thomas, Virge Thomas, Rip Thomas and George Thomas all of Vidor, sisters Stella Hoffpauir, and Martha Torres both of Vidor, and Fannie Carpenter of Village Mills, TX., one grandson Dale Lynn Sharpe of College Station, and one great grandson Jacob Elijah Merrell of Vidor and many other relatives and friends.
