Barbara Jean Hendry

Barbara Jean Hendry, 83, of Vidor, TX died Sunday, September 10th, 2017 in Beaumont, TX. A native of Sumter, SC she was a longtime resident of Vidor. She graduated from Beaumont H.S. in 1953 and worked in the insurance industry for 45 years. She was a 48 year member of Vidor Chapter # 914 Order of the Eastern Star - being Worthy Matron twice. She held the office of Secretary for over 25 years and was appointed to various Grand Appointments over her years in Eastern Star. She also participated in the Pythian Sisters and the Daughters of the Nile. Barbara was a devoted member of First Baptist Church of Vidor and loved to sing in the Senior Adult Choir and travel on the Senior Adult trips all over the U.S. She loved to sew, do crafts, and going to Aggie football games and activities. She was a very proud Aggie MOM! Doing for others was one of her greatest joys. She loved her children and family but especially loved her "grand dogs"; Lacey and Jake and watching them at the Jack Russell dog trials and was known as "Mama" to everyone at the dog trials. Visitation will be Saturday, September 16, 2017 at First Baptist Church of Vidor from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. with her funeral service beginning at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park. Please come in your brightest colors - No suit or ties. Barbara is survived by 1 son; James Lee Hendry and Diane Davidson of San Antonio, TX, 1 daughter; Debora Fisher and her husband Perry of Cypress, TX, 1 granddaughter; Nicole Kauffman of San Antonio, TX and 1 great grandson; Matthew Kauffman also of San Antonio. She is also survived by her 2 "grand dogs"; Lacey and Jake, 1 brother; Herman H. Pague, Jr. of Ovett, MS, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; Earl and Louise Lee and her husband; James H. Hendry. Our family would like to thank the Providence Home Health Care nurses who helped with her care over the years: Gloria, Summer, Hope, Jill, Talayna, and countless others. We would also like to thank with our deepest gratitude all the friends that helped us in our time of need after Hurricane Harvey: Ryan & Nicholas Lupton, Kristy Thompson, Vicki, Larry & Chris Crile, Brandon Cormier, Brandon Smith, Bruno & Julie Lioi, Barbara Haley, Jerry Murdock, and the Army of ANGELS from the LDS of Magnolia, TX, and the countless others from Vidor, Houston, and other cities in Texas and other states. The prayers, love, encouragement, support and friendship mean more than you will ever know. We love you all!! In lieu of flowers, please make donations to First Baptist Church of Vidor in memory of our mother.
