Bobby 'B.J.' Joe Travis

Bobby Joe Travis, born November 1, 1930 in Bastrop, Louisiana, graduated from A&M University, Class of 53, with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. B. J. was employed by Mobil Oil Refinery for 17 years. He retired in 1970 after inventing the Hydraulic Tube Bundle Extractor, commonly known as "The Bundle Puller", which was manufactured by Allied Fabricating and Welding, in partnership with C.B. Pierce.

At the age of 55, B. J. retired to begin his lifelong dream of adventure with his wife Nellie. They traveled the world and drove cross country in their motor home meeting new friends and finding fishing holes along the way. His favorite memory of fishing was catching salmon and halibut in the Alaskan rivers where they toured and explored for three months.

He is survived by his wife, Nellie Ruth Pierce Travis, daughters, Lana Kay Travis Cleveland, Laura Lee Travis Precht, Lesa Maeri Travis Stroop and son, John Edgar Travis; grandchildren: Leigh Anne Cleveland Pierce, Lori Elle Cleveland, Travis Wayne Walles, Ashton Pierce Precht, John Edgar Travis, Jr., Joshua Eric Travis, Jacob Erron Travis, Taylor Hayes Stroop, Nicole Danelle Stroop, Victoria Maeri Stroop, and Edward Parker Stroop, great grandchildren: Jaxson Allen Pierce, Christian River Pierce, Layne Walker Cleveland, Dylin Wayne Walles, Ethan Garrett Walles, MaKena Elaine Travis, Paisley Marie Travis; sisters Helen Eileen Travis McNeel, Barbara Gayle Travis Ross, Carolyn Sue Travis Porcher;
He is preceeded in death by his father, Lucian Edgar Travis and his mother Laura Mae Stepherson Travis.
Viewing will be at Turning Point Church, 3600 North Main Street, Vidor, Texas between the hours of 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with services being held on Wednesday at Turning Point at 2:00 p.m.Burial site at Vidor Restlawn Cemetery
