Curtis Ray Bartell, a kind and wise man, passed away peacefully of natural causes on April 16, 2023, in Beaumont, Texas. Born on May 21, 1954, in Oakdale, Louisiana, Curtis was a devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who will be deeply missed by his family and friends.




Curtis is survived by his loving daughters Sabrina Bartell of Vidor, Texas, and Myra Bartell and her husband Danny of Carencro, Louisiana. He was the proud grandfather of two grandchildren, Morgan Caswell and her husband Drake and Devin Caswell. He was the cherished great-grandfather of four great-grandchildren, Baylee, Hayden, Raynee, and Mason. He is also survived by his sisters Grace and Linda Mae. Curtis was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mabel Bartell, his wife Charlotte Bartell, his brothers Joe, John, and Charles, and his sister Shirley.




Curtis was a dedicated and hardworking man who spent his professional career as a Supervisor at the Port of Beaumont with Kinder Morgan. He was passionate about his job and took great pride in his work, which earned him the admiration and respect of his colleagues. Curtis was known for his keen intellect and wise counsel, which he generously shared with those around him.




A devout Christian, Curtis was a longstanding member of Christ's Community Church in Vidor. He played an instrumental role in helping the church secure a parking lot, making it more accessible for congregants. Curtis's faith was an integral part of his life, and he was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need.




Curtis was a huge fan of Louisiana State University athletics, and he could often be found cheering on his beloved Tigers. He also enjoyed gambling from time to time, which provided a fun and exciting outlet for him to unwind. Curtis's favorite moments, however, were spent with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a loving and supportive presence in their lives, and his memory will live on through them.




In addition to his kindness and wisdom, Curtis was known for his unwavering love and devotion to his family. He was a steadfast source of support, encouragement, and guidance to his daughters, siblings, and extended family. His warm and generous spirit touched the lives of many and will be remembered fondly by all who knew him.




A celebration of Curtis's life will be held at Oakland Springs Cemetery in Oberlin, Louisiana on Saturday, April 22, 2023 at 12:00 PM and will have a visitation Friday, April 21, 2023 at Memorial Funeral Home in Vidor from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude for the outpouring of love and support they have received during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Curtis's memory to Christ's Community Church.




Curtis Ray Bartell's legacy of love, wisdom, and kindness will live on in the hearts of his family and friends. He will be dearly missed, but his memory will be cherished and celebrated by all who were blessed to know him
