Deanna 'Peggy' Shannon

Deanna Shannon, affectionately known as 'Peggy' to friends and family, was born on Oct. 20, 1923 in Orange County, Texas, and passed away on November 28, 2011 in Katy, Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Shannon, son Michael Shannon, and parents Clara and Levi Singleton. She will be remembered lovingly by daughter Marilyn Shannon, grandchildren Claire and Andrew Shannon-Myers, sister Dolores Guidry, and numerous nieces and nephews. A long time resident of Vidor, Texas, she was married for 59 years to her high school sweetheart, Ray Shannon, and was a loving mother and grandmother. She was an active member of First United Methodist Church in Vidor from her childhood. In 2005 she moved to Katy, Texas, to be near family. Her gentleness, radiant smile, and care for others will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. We are grateful for the care of the staff of Autumn Grove Cottage in Katy, whose care brought a little springtime into her last months. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, December 3, 2011 at First United Methodist in Vidor, with burial to follow at Singleton Cemetery in Vidor.
