Donnie Mae Milstead

March 18, 1942 — December 2, 2009

Donnie M. Milstead, 67, of Rose City passed away Wednesday, December 2, 2009 at Baptist Hospital.
Mrs. Milstead lived in Rose City almost all of her life.
She is survived by her son Rickey Joe Milstead of Vidor; daughter and son-in-law Rene and Calvin Wheat of Vidor, granddaughter and grand son-in-law Sheena and Keenon Wilbourn; grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Matt and Lacey Wheat; granddaughters Jolene Hebert and Caitlin Milstead and grandson Zachary Milstead.
Other survivers include great grandchildren Emilee and Gunner Wilbourn, McKenna Milstead and Hunter and Benjamin Hebert.
Mrs. Milstead was preceded in death by her husband of 33 years; H. A. (Junior) Milstead; her parents, Tad and Rosie Mae Deshazo; her brother and sister Hubert DeShazo and Billie Jean Robinson.
She was a homemaker most of her life, but also delivered flowers for Wrinkles Florist, did home health care and worked at Wal-Mart.
Mrs. Milstead was active in 4-H in the early days of the Mighty Pirate 4-H Club. She loved to go every summer to the week-long camp in Brownwood. Mrs. Milstead was great at getting the 4-Hers to tell her about their projects so they could complete their show project books. She also helped the 4-Hers with their cooking and sewing projects.
Mrs. Milstead spent many hours at the Southeast Texas State Fair in the show barn with her children and their animal projects through the years.
She loved being the taxi driver for her grandchildren and their appointments as well as liking working in vacation Bible school in Rose City several years.
Mrs. Milstead was a member of the Pine Forest Baptist Church.
She loved to sew and embrodery and made quilts for all her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Mrs. Milstead also loved to garden and had her yard win awards several times.
The last month she spent at Oakwood Manor, she loved talking with the residents and getting everyone to coffee.
Mrs. Milstead was excited and looking forward to the arrival of Matt and Lacey Wheats first child in July. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 5, 2009 at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor, with graveside services will begin at 3:00 p.m. at Bald Prairie Cemetery in Bald Prairie, TX. Visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, December 4, 2009 at Memorial Funeral Home.
