Dr. Donald Long Hilton

Dr. Donald Long Hilton, most recently residing at his farm in Williamson Settlement near Vidor, passed away at home on July 6, 2005 after an extended illness.brbr He was born on October 22, 1930 to Earl and Zona McCann Hilton in Morgan City, Louisiana. His family moved to Port Arthur in 1932 and he graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1949. After serving in the Air Force during the Korean War he graduated from Lamar University with a Bachelor of Science in Biology in 1955. In 1956, he went on to earn a Master’s in Immunology from North Texas State at Denton. He obtained a Doctor of Medicine degree from The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston in 1960. Specialty training in obstetrics and gynecology was completed at the University of Illinois at Chicago in 1965 and he practiced medicine in Port Arthur and Mid-County for 31 years, retiring in 1999. He delivered over 10, 000 babies during his career. brbr He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. From 1989 to 1992 he and his wife Irene lived in the Philippines where he served as mission president of the Philippines Manila Mission for the Church. They married in 1955 in the Salt Lake Temple in Salt Lake City, Utah, and were the parents of four children.brbr He was preceded in the death by his daughter, Janine Rene Hilton. He is survived by his wife Irene Williamson Hilton; two sons, Dr. Donald Long Hilton, Jr. and his wife Jana of San Antonio, and Dr. Nathan Earl Hilton and his wife Susan of Waco; a daughter, Judith Hilton Read and her husband Rodney of Vidor; two brothers, Earl Monroe Hilton, Jr. and his wife Estelle of Groves, Ulysse George McCann and his wife Barbara of Highland, Utah. He is also survived by five grandsons and five granddaughters. brbr Funeral services will be Saturday July 9, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at the Williamson Chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Vidor, under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor, with burial following at Williamson Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Friday, July 8, 2005 at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Pallbearers will be Earl Hilton, III, Allen Hilton, Alden Hilton, George Williamson, Jr., Frank Williamson, Johnny Ray Williamson, Allen Dossett, Rodney Read, Michael Crossley, and Dudley Guidry. brbrbr
