Dr. H.J. Cothern, Jr.

Dr. H.J. Cothern, Jr., 82 died Tuesday, July 21st, 2015 in Beaumont. Born in Tylertown, Mississippi, Dr. Cothern was a longtime resident of Vidor and served as the Vidor Independent School District Superintendent for 9 years. He loved to travel all over the world and for many years he owned and operated his own travel agency. Dr. Cothern is survived by his loving wife, Norma Cothern, of 57 years, 3 sons, Jay Cothern and wife Kelly of Fannett, Jon Cothern of Vidor, and Joe Cothern and wife Brandy of Vidor. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren and was preceded in death by his brother "Bud" Cothern. Visitation will be held Friday, July 24, 2015 beginning at 6:00 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. Funeral services will be Saturday, July 25, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Vidor. Cremation arrangements were entrusted to Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor.
