Effie Dora Iola Collins

Effie “Gene” Collins, 71, of Vidor died Thursday, January 6, 2005 at Dubuis Hospital in Port Arthur, TX. A native of Crowley, LA., she has lived in Vidor since 1957, and was a homemaker. She proudly volunteered for the March of Dimes, and the Christian Care Center in Vidor, TX. Funeral services will be Sunday, January 9, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor, with burial to follow at Restlawn Memorial Park in Vidor, TX. Visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 8, 2005 at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years Joe Collins of Vidor, sons, David Collins, Sr., Rickie Collins, and Daniel Collins all of Vidor, daughters, Pamela Cole, Debbie Jones, Judy Collins Garcia , Martha Collins Williams, and Janice Collins Wood all of Vidor, brothers, Hollins Sarver of Iota, LA., Charles Sarver of Kinder, LA., and Woodrow Sarver of Crowley, LA., sisters, Betty Parker of Keithville, LA., and Jeanette Dennise of Metairie, LA., twenty-five grandchildren, and sixteen great grandchildren. Gene is preceded in death by her parents, T.H. Brent and Georgie Brent, brothers, Oscar Bazorux, and Billy Brent, and one infant grandson Kenneth Dean Collins.
