Emma Edith Riley

Edith Riley, 91, of Vidor flew away to be with her heavenly father on Wednesday, November 8, 2006 at her residence, just four days before her 92nd birthday. A native of Batson, TX., she has lived in Vidor for 42 years and was a retired care giver and worked for Southwestern Bell as a phone operator, and sales associate with Learners department store. She was a Sunday school teacher, a devoted Christian, great cook, and read her bible daily. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 11, 2006 at United Pentecostal Church in Batson, TX., with burial to follow at Guidry Cemetery in Batson, TX. Visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, November 10, 2006 at United Pentecostal Church in Batson. She was preceded in death by her parents Johnnie and Rita Caruthers, sisters Alma Storey, Oma Lea Yarber, Jannie Whitley, and Edna Mearl, brothers John, Bennie, and Charles Caruthers. She is survived by her daughters Billie Virginia Walston and husband Billy of Livingston, TX., Evelynn Joyce Duty and her husband Harley of Vidor, and Carolyn “Bonnie” Bandeaux of Vidor, brothers Willie Jean Caruthers, Jim Caruthers, sisters Elizabeth Gilfillian, and Doris Husband all of Batson, and Thelma Reavis of Tulsa, OK., thirteen grandchildren, twenty-eight great grandchildren, and seven great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. She will be greatly missed and live in our hearts forever.
