Ethel Mccord

October 12, 1935 — March 22, 2016

Ethel M. McCord, 80, died Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont. A native of Port Arthur, TX, she was a longtime resident of Vidor. Ethel graduated from Bishop Byrne High School in Port Arthur and she is a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Vidor. Ethel was the glue in the fabric of her family. She was a loving mother who stood by her children and raised them to be generous and caring individuals. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were her “gifts” whom she adored and was so proud of all their talents and successes. She was a true matriarch and her absence can never be filled. Ethel first and foremost was a wife and mother. She devoted her life to raising her children. She was always supporting them in all their sporting activities, high school band and musical performances, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. She also ran their family air conditioning business along side her husband for many years. Ethel loved music, flowers, taking and sharing pictures of her family(one of her favorite sayings was "Just one more picture"), spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, and was devoted to her Catholic faith and the Blessed Mother. When remembering her in the days and years ahead, a smile will come to the faces of all who knew and loved her. Ethel leaves behind a legacy of love, forgiveness, and selfless giving that she instilled in all of those she has left behind. Rest well good and faithful servant, and may your good deeds accompany you. Funeral liturgy outside mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am Saturday March 26, 2016 at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor, with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Beaumont, TX.
