Geraldine Collins Root Long Bradley

Geraldine Bradley, 81, of Brookeland, passed away peacefully in her sleep surrounded by her family Sunday morning April 17, 2011 at Harbor Hospice House in Beaumont, Texas. Geraldine was an avid reader, great conversationalist, wonderful cook and expert craftsman in crocheting. Her handmade afghans will be treasured memories of her beautiful handiwork. Geraldine is preceded in death by her parents, Willis and Cecil Collins, her husbands Edward F. Root, Jr and Sam Bradley, one son, Stephen C. Root and one brother, Charles W. Collins. Geraldine leaves behind cherished memories in the hearts of her sons: Edward F. Root, III and wife Theresa of Ashdown, AR., Harrison L. Root and wife Sara of Beaumont, John W. Root and wife Stacy of Brookeland, and William B. Long and wife Melissa of Lumberton, daughters: Carolyn A. Reich and husband Rocky of Vidor, and Mary, 12 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Geraldine is also survived by one sister Lois Bailey of Vidor, and one brother Melvin L. Collins and wife Betty of Dallardsville, TX., and sister-in-law Faye George of Silsbee, TX. Geraldine is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and one really special friend and caregiver, Albert. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor, with burial to follow at Williamson Cemetery in Vidor. Visitation will begin at 6:00 pm on Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at Memorial Funeral Home.
