Herb Oliver

Herb Oliver, 87, of Woodville, TX died Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at Woodville Heath and Rehab. A native of Bonneau, SC, he was a longtime resident of Vidor before moving to Woodville several years ago. Herb was a deacon and member of First Baptist Church of Vidor since 1977. He served his country in the US Army during WWII, Korean War and Vietnam Conflict. Herb retired from the US Army after 24 years as a Master Sargent. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, September 27, 2014 at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Beaumont. A gathering for family and friends will begin at 1:00 pm Saturday, September 27, 2014 at Memorial Funeral Home. Herb is preceded in death by his wife Melba Rae "Doris" Oliver. He is survived by his daughters Debrah Roberts and her husband Joe of Johns Island, SC, Sharon Harmon and her husband Craig of Woodville, TX, brother Rudolph "Rudy" Oliver of Manchester, TN, grandchildren Joe Roberts, Chris Roberts and his wife Jennifer, Jasun Harmon and his wife Jennifer, Cindy Shoemaker and her husband Buck. 6 great- granddaughters, 3 great-grandsons.
