Herbert Chester Pope, Sr.

Herbert Chester Pope, Sr., 87 years old of Vidor, Texas passed away on February 1, 2007 in the home of his son Nick Pope family of Madison, MS. A native of Fort Myers Beach Florida, he was born on July 26, 1919 and resided in Vidor since 1955. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II from 1940- 1946. He served aboard the USS Trenton. Visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 6, 2007 at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor, with a Rosary to begin at 7:00 p.m.. A Funeral Liturgy outside mass with Father Paul Sumler officiating, will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 7, 2007 at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor, with burial to follow at Restlawn Memorial Park in Vidor, TX. Mr. Pope was preceded in death by his father Alonzo Pope and mother Gertrude Sarah Santini and his step- father Nick Santini. He is survived by his sons Herbert Pope, Jr and his wife Diane ; Lonnie Pope and his wife Pam; and Nick Pope and his wife PJ. His daughters Yvonne Young and her husband Garland and Julie Pope. Seven grandchildren: Kim Mossburger and her husband Lucian; Lonnie Pope Jr, and his wife Brooke; Brandi Wiser and her husband Donnie; Garland Young, Jr and his wife Tess; Christopher Young and his wife Melissa; Nathan Pope and Pennie Marie Pope. Six Great-grandchildren: Madelyne Wiser, Austin Young, Ashley Young, Kira Pope, Chloe Wiser and Elizabeth Young. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in honor of Herbert Pope, Sr to the Blind Veterans Association.
