Herbert H. Phillips, 87, of Vidor died Monday, March 12, 2007 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont, TX. He was born on July 18, 1919 in Longville, LA., he has lived in Vidor for 17 years, and was a retired minister after 57 years of faithful ministry. Rev. Phillips was an Ordained Minister of the United Pentecostal Church International from 1950 - 2007. He pastored churches in Elton, LA., Singer, LA., High Island, TX., Jeannerette, LA., and Fields, LA. He has been a faithful member of Eastgate United Pentecostal Church since his retirement in 1986. Mr. Phillips proudly served his country from 1942 to 1945, in the United States Air Force during World War II. Visitation will begin at 4:00 p.m. till 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 14, 2007 at Eastgate United Pentecostal Church. Funeral services will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 15, 2007 at Eastgate United Pentecostal Church of Vidor all under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor, with burial to follow at Restlawn Memorial Park in Vidor, TX. Officiating the services will be Rev. G. R. “Bobby” Edwards, Rev. George Gau, Rev. A.D. Spears, Rev. Brian Gossan, Rev. Tommy Jackson, and Rev. Danny Russo. Rev. Phillips is survived by his wife of 62 years Mildred Morris Phillips of Vidor, daughters Carol Jackson and her husband Norris of Jena, LA., Elaine Edwards and her husband Rev. G.R. “Bobby” Edwards of Vidor, and Janice Gossan and her husband Brian of Holland, MI., sisters Mildred Ensign of Oklahoma City, OK., and Melba Duhon of Lake Charles, LA., seven grandchildren: Brent Jackson and his wife Kelly of Blacksburg, VA., Nadrid Callendar and her husband Jimmy of Irving, TX., Weldon Jackson of Jena, LA., Lamarr and his wife Rynn of Kingwood, TX., Brijan Gossan of Indianapolis, IN., and Kristopher and Phillip Gossan of Holland, MI., four great grandchildren: Ashley, Adrienne, and Zachary Stover, and Sydney Callender, five nieces: Donna Marshall, Susie Cox, Beverly Allen, Pam Duhon, and Murrell Gore, and several great nieces and nephews.
