Hermann Grover Hayes, 88, of Vidor died Saturday August 8, 2009 at Oakwood Manor Nursing Home in Vidor. He was born in Rose City, TX, October 20, 1920 to Raymond and Margaret Hayes. Hermann was a lifelong resident of Vidor and was a retired pipefitter with local Union # 195 in Beaumont. He enjoyed gardening, dance and reciting poetry. He was a 1939 Vidor High School graduate and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Days Saints in Vidor. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 11, 2009 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Days Saints, under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor, with burial to follow at Williamson Cemetery in Vidor. Visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m. Monday, August 10, 2009 at Memorial Funeral Home. He was preceded in death by his wife Laverne Hayes, sons Hermann "Little Man" Stanley and Grover Toler, brother Leon Hayes, sisters Vallie Hughes, Inez Armstrong, Mary Margaret "Mody" Christman, grandson Rowdy McNeel and great grandson Spencer R. Routly. Hermann is survived by his sons Joel Hayes and his wife Linda, Everett Hayes, Tim Hayes and his wife Jan all of Vidor, TX, daughter Sandra McNeel of Waco, TX, brother Wade Hayes of Vidor, TX, 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 2 great great-grandchildren.
