Irene Illa Esclavon Mercer Irene I. Mercer, 97, of Vidor died Sunday, July 14, 2013 at Oakwood Manor Nursing Home in Vidor. A native of Beaumont, TX, she was a longtime resident of Vidor. Irene was a seamstress and was a member of Northwest Baptist Church in Vidor. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 am Wednesday July 17, 2013 at Restlawn Memorial Park in Vidor. A gathering for family and friends will begin at 6:00 pm Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. Irene was preceded in death by her brother Joe Esclavon, sisters Hazel Ainsworth and Georgie Samuelson. She is survived by her son Gene Ainsworth of Vidor, TX, daughter Francis Mercer of Houston, TX, brother JD Esclavon of Mt. Vernon, TX, sisters Eleanor Parker and Lois Taylor both of Vidor, TX, 6 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 15 great great-grandchildren.
