Jacob Lowell 'Hook' Walles

J.L. Walles, 93, of Vidor died Saturday. August 30, 2014 at Harbor Hospice House in Beaumont. A native of Oilla, Texas, he was a longtime resident of Vidor. He was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Vidor. J.L. worked at the shipyards during WWII and was a carpenter 25 years mostly with H.B. Neild and Sons. He went to work in August of 1965 as the Maintenance Director of V.I.S.D. and retired in approximately 1998. The most common phase you heard about J.L. was 'he could do anything'. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at First Baptist Church in Vidor, with burial to follow at Stephenson Cemetery in Vidor. A gathering for family and friends will begin at 6:00 pm Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. J.L. was preceded in death by his first wife Claudia Virginia Walles and second wife Earline Hart LeBlanc Walles, children Jacob 'Rusty' Walles, Jr., Mary Virginia Brooks and Eleanor June Drake. He is survived by his daughters Peggy McNeely and her husband James of Vidor, TX, Deborah Walles Harmon and her husband Don of Vidor, TX, Paula Williamson of Houston, TX, Madeline Gill and her husband Glenn of Joaquin, TX, and Darlene Bales Beaumont, TX, brother Bert Walles, Jr and his wife Thelma of Zavalla, TX, 15 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.
