James Douglas 'Cannonball' Holland

January 9, 1950 — September 2, 2013

James D. Holland, 63 of Vidor, TX, passed away on Monday, September 2, 2013 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital surrounded by his wife and daughters. Doug was born on January 9, 1950, in Beaumont, TX, to Cecil and Evelyn Holland. He grew up in Beaumont and graduated from French High School in 1969. Doug moved to Vidor after marrying his wife of 41 years Mischelle Foster Holland. After 40 years, Doug was a semi-retired Ironworker of Local 135. He had recently been volunteering at the Christian Care Center in Vidor. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Doug enjoyed watching his grandsons participate in their sporting and theater activities. Mr. Holland was preceded in death by his parents Cecil Holland and Evelyn (Holland) Deaven. He is survived by his wife, Mischelle Foster Holland; two daughters, Deedra LaPray and husband Matthew of Vidor, and Breyn Quinn and husband Mark of Houston; two grandsons, Tate and Porter LaPray of Vidor, and brother Gary Holland of Wildwood. Cremation arrangements were entrusted with Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. Memorial services will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, September 6, 2013 at Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 5, 2013 at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Vidor School Foundation, Attention Sally Andrews, 120 East Bolivar, Vidor, Texas 77662.
