James Nathan Barrows

James N. Barrows, 85, of Vidor died Monday, March 21, 2011 at Harbor Hospice House in Beaumont. He was born in Temple, Texas on March 30, 1925 and joined the United States Navy in 1942 where he served his country during WWII. James was a retired supervisor with Arco Palmer Petroleum Plant. He retired in 1982 at the age of 56 years old. He was a member of the American Legion post #7 in Port Arthur. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, March 24, 2011 at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor, with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Beaumont. Visitation will begin at 6:00 pm on Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at Memorial Funeral Home. James was preceded in death by his two sons which were his golfing buddies Robert and Dawson Barrows, his parents, a brother and two sisters. He is survived by his wife Hazel Barrows of Vidor, step-son David R. Taylor and wife Karen of Fairdale, TX., step-daughter Carolyn Thomas and husband Cliff of Houston, two grandchildren: Christi Barrows and Troy Barrows four step-grandsons: David W. Taylor and wife Laurie, Wade Taylor, Danny Sachitano, and Christopher Swain and wife Sheila, and seven great grandchildren.
