James T. Hopper, Sr.

James T. Hopper, Sr passed away on October 18th, 2014 at Vidor Health and Rehab. He was born on June 3rd, 1921 to James Robert and Mittie Rayburn Hopper in Gilbert, Louisiana. Jim was an avid gardener and developed his own "Flower Bed Okra", selling the seeds nationwide through gardening magazines. He served in the U.S. Army and retired from Florida Gas Transmission Corp. Jim is preceded in death by his wife, Maribelle. He is survived by his daughter, Kathy and husband Martin Mattox of Orlando, Florida, son J. Thomas Hopper and wife Rhonda of Vidor, Texas, daughter Jerrie Dawe of Vancouver, Canada, 6 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church of Vidor.
