Jean Reed Pendarvis

Jean Reed Pendarvis, 82 of Vidor died Tuesday, October 25th, 2022 at Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas in Beaumont. Born in Newton, TX, she was raised in Orange and graduated from Lutcher Stark High School in 1957. Jean was very active in her church, Cove Baptist Church, singing in the choir and performing solos. After graduation she received a vocal scholarship from Lamar but chose to marry the love of her life, and his military career took them from one end of the world to the other and across this country. She became a lifetime member of Beta Sigma Phi International Sorority after joining in 1964 while living in Maryland. Jean's career had her focusing on the mentally handicapped and she was the Executive Director of Fairway houses from 1991-1997 where she retired. Her hobbies included jigsaw and crossword puzzles. Jean is survived by her daughter Donna (Didi) Joao of Vidor, TX; son James (Tobey) Pendarvis of Galloway, OH; brother James Cleveland Reed of Hurricane, WV; 4 grandchildren of Dallas, Houston and Ft. Lauderdale; and 4 great grandchildren; and lots of aunts & uncles, nieces & nephews and cousins galore. Cremation arrangements were entrusted to Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
