Joe A. Peschka

Joseph August Peschka was born on November 20, 1920 in Houston, Texas and departed this life for the next on Friday, October 20, 2006 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont at age 85. Joe was a World War II veteran, serving in the United States Navy. He was a charter member and the first president of the Vidor Evening Optimist Club, and a member of First United Methodist Church in Vidor. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph T. and Elsie Peschka, his brother John T. Peschka, and his granddaughter, Katherine Elizabeth “Katie” Pittman. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Carolyn Peschka of Vidor, his son Craig Peschka and wife Mary Anne of Elkhart, Indiana, and his daughter Sally Kirkpatrick and husband Jeff of Vidor, sister Mildred Carter of Houston, TX. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Jeremiah Peschka of Columbus, Ohio, Michael Peschka of Dayton, Ohio, and Amy and Adam Sessions of Vidor, Texas. Services will be held on Tuesday, October 24 at 10:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Vidor, with interment to follow at Restlawn Memorial Park in Vidor. Visitation will be held at Memorial Funeral Home from 6:00-9:00 p.m. Monday, October 23. Pallbearers will be Dr. Bruce Carter, Jim Carter, Jack Verrett, Ted Hanchey, Joe Haeggquist and Howard Morse. Honorary pall bearers are Don Bradford, Wesley Jones, Dr. Kenneth Alexander, and Tommy Poole. Memorials may be directed to Heartbeats of Hope, serving children and youth with cancer, P.O. Box 578, Vidor, TX, 77670.
