Archie Tibbits, 79, of Vidor was born, November 23, 1936 in Sour Lake, Texas; died July 24, 2016 after a brief, but brave struggle with cancer. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Ila Frances James Tibbits; son, Douglas Archie Tibbits formerly of Vidor, TX, now Germantown TN and daughter, Paula Ann Tibbits Moore formerly of Vidor TX now of Searcy AR, daughter-in-law Susan Tibbits, son-in-law Harold Moore and grandchildren Brandon Tibbits, Kailey Tibbits, Katie Tibbits, Austin Moore and Abby Moore. A sister, Ann King of San Antonio TX and her husband Milton King, brothers-in-law Coy James of Dallas TX, Gary Schwalenberg of Sour Lake TX, and many friends and loved ones. He was preceded by his mother and father, James and Maude Tibbits of Sour Lake, TX ,sister Pat Schwalenberg of Sour Lake TX. Archie was an Elder of the Vidor Church of Christ for 32 years. He is a veteran of the US Armed Forces, serving from 1960 to 1962, he retired from Texas Eastern Transmission Corporation (Spectra Energy) after a 36 year career as an Electrician. He was an avid fisherman and loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was a good Christian man and will be sorely missed by many. Visitation will be from 6:00 - 9:00 pm Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at Memorial Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Restlawn Memorial Park in Vidor.
