John Clayton 'Buck' Thomas

Buck Thomas, 87, of Vidor died Monday, October 26, 2009 at Oakwood Manor Nursing Home. Buck was born on April 16, 1922 in Gist, Texas to Henry and Zadie Thomas. He was a lifelong resident of Vidor, a member of VFW Post 8246 and was a member of Our Lady Of Lourdes Catholic Church in Vidor. Buck worked for Schlumber Jer Oil Company for 13 years in the oil fields and started his first service station in 1958. He owned two car washes, B and T in Beaumont and T and T in Orange. His favorite pass time was fishing and gardening. He served his country in the US Army Air Corp during WWII. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 31, 2009 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor, with entombment to follow at Restlawn Memorial Park in Vidor. Visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m. and a Christian vigil at 7:00 p.m. Friday, October 30, 2009 at Memorial Funeral Home. Buck was preceded in death by his first wife Mary W. Thomas, parents Henry and Zadie Thomas, sisters Lonie Wallace and Alice Graham. He is survived by his wife Mytis Smith Thomas of Vidor, TX, sons John C. Thomas, Jr and wife Donna of Orange, TX, Randy Thomas and wife Sue of Vidor, TX, step-sons Richard and Bruce Smith both of Vidor, TX, step daughters Linda Booth of Temple, TX, and Diane Anderson of Vidor, TX, brothers Alan \"Pistol\" , Bill, Leonard \"Rip\", Virge, and George Thomas all of Vidor, TX, sisters Martha Torres, Fannie Carpenter, and Stella Hoffpauir all of Vidor, TX, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and nephew Dr. Rick Sontheimer and wife Liz of Utah.

6:00 p.m. Friday, October 30, 2009 at Memorial Funeral Home 1750 Hwy 12, Vidor, Texas

10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 31, 2009 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church N. Main St. Vidor, Texas
