John 'Doug' Douglas Nichols, Sr

Doug Nichols, 73, of Orange died September 18, 2010 at his residence. He was a native of Mt. Olive, MS, and was a longtime resident of Vidor and Orange. Doug was a retired welding inspector and served his country in the U.S. Army 101st Airborne. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 21, 2010 at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor, with burial to follow at 3:00 p.m. at Ford Cemetery in Newton, TX. Visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m. Monday, September 20, 2010 at Memorial Funeral Home. Doug was preceded in death by his parents Rhodell and Myrtle Nichols, sons John Douglas Nicholas Jr, Thomas Wade Hardy, and Larry Joe Hardy, brother Thomas Theodore Nichols, sisters Ruby Williams, Jeanetta Stewart, and Katie Hobson. He is survived by his sons Rick and Trisha Hardy, Eugene and Brenda Hardy, Mark and Kristi Hardy, Billy Hardy, Jimmy Hardy, and George Hardy, daughters Laura Johnson, Eva Jane Nichols, Angie Victoria Nichols, Ruby and Chad Richardson, Rhonda and Lonnie Lewis, Melissa Kay Havard and Juan, Carole Hardy and Richard, brothers Jerry and Jimmy Nichols, sister Midred Hodges and brother -in-law Ivy, father and mother-in-law Bob and Margie Cousins, brother-in-law Robert and Glenda Cousins, sister-in-laws Truman and Sue Dourghty, Will and Sue Spinn, first cousin and best friend Nick and Donna Nichols, 42 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren, countless friends and co-workers at Gulf Coast Weld Spec. A special thanks to the staff at Physicians Link Home Health and his personal nurse Jodie for all their love they gave him each visit. To the precious staff on 3 Trinity at Baptist Hospital in Beaumont, thank you for the personal care he was given in his many stays with you. Additionally, our family would like to thank our many friends and church families who kept him on prayer lists around the clock. We feel that because of your prayers Dads salvation is secure and we will see him again someday in Heaven. Thanks to brother Ed with Silver Oaks Baptist Church for all the times he visited him and helped him be at peace.
