John Thomas Wood

John T. Wood, 86, of Silsbee, TX., died Monday, April 11, 2011 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont. A native of Sikes, LA., he has lived in Silsbee for the past ten years and was a retired pipe liner with Brown & Root. He has worked overseas in 6 different countries, he started out as a spacer and worked into a supervisor position. He was an avid music lover of blue grass, blues and country, he was also an accomplished harmonica player. He served his country in the United States Army 86th Chemical Mortar Battalion during WW II, he received a bronze star, and a purple heart. He was a member of the Vidor Masonic Lodge # 1286. Cremation arrangements were entrusted with Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, April 21, 2011 at Memorial Funeral Home. He was preceded in death by one grandchild. John is survived by his wife of 48 years Marlene Wood of Silsbee, TX, daughters: Suzanne Sherrill of Lake Charles, LA., Donna Wood of San Diego, CA., Julia Stringer of Houston, TX, Sheila Busceme of Beaumont, TX, and Colleen Bonnin of Silsbee, TX, brother Gerald Wood of Alexandria, LA., sister Colleen Nichols of Kiethville, LA., ten grandchildren, and six great grandchildren.
