Lucy Ilene Eaves

Lucy Duncan Eaves, 90, a longtime resident of Gist, passed away Thursday, May 13, 2010, from natural causes at her home in Fred with family by her side. She was a longtime member of New Cherry Grove Baptist Church in Gist. For 25 years, she owned and operated Eaves Grocery & Feed in Mauriceville. She was the foundation of her family, an avid gardener and farmer and a lover of fishing and the outdoors.She was widely loved and respected and enriched the lives of all who knew her. She will be greatly missed. She is survived by two sons, Albert Eaves, of Brady, and Dennis Eaves, of Mauriceville; nine grandchildren, Sara Kelly, Terri Prine, Wesley Prine, Stacy Matkins, Craig Eaves, Denise Rodrigues, Ronnie Eaves, Lacy Beaver and Logan Eaves; 13 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren She was preceded in death by her daughter Marie Eaves and her husband Cazie Eaves. Viewing will be Saturday at 5 p.m. for family and 6 p.m. for the public at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor, 1750 Highway 12. Funeral services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. She will be interred at Eaves Cemetery in Gist following the services.
