Bell Bartok, 73, died Saturday, June 25th, 2016 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont, TX. She was a longtime resident of Vidor, she had previously worked at Market Basket (formerly Price-Lo), in Vidor for 20 yrs.- leaving there in 2012. Born May 29, 1943 to Louis and Mattie (Potts) Schubert in Bunker Hill, Illinois and raised in (or near) Greenville & Keyesport, Ill, (living in the latter through grade school). In early December of 1950- Bell (usually using her full name when a kid) and her parents were luckily living near another part of town, when a damaging tornado struck in Greenville.
She had a life-long love of animals - including horses. A black one named Beauty was the first of sixteen she would own. She also loved collecting figurines , amassing quite a collection. Other interests thru the years would be flea markets and other bargain shopping, bike riding, drawing and some other "crafty" activities, travel and more.
When living near Phoenix, AZ, her and her husband Joe started dancing at nearby country music nightclubs, which continued when they moved to Texas. She had a variety of favorite TV shows and movies and liked classic country music, Elvis Presley and Bill Anderson were her #1's, and classic cars.
She is survived by her daughter, Becky Bartok of Vidor, 3 step daughters, Deb "Lee" Hulon of Pinehurst, Pam Hailey of Humble and Evelyn "Evie" Shwartz of Greenville, SC. Several step grandchildren and some nieces, nephews, and cousins. Preceding her in death are her husband, Joseph, parents Louis and Matti Schubert, 3 sisters, 1 brother and a host of other relatives. Now in Heaven she'll get to see them again, some for the first time - including her grandparents and brother who passed before her birth.
Cremation arrangements were entrusted to Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor.
