Marie Elizabeth Richardson Michael

Marie (Richardson) Michael, age 74 died peacefully at her home surrounded by her family after a recent battle with cancer. Marie was born April 22, 1943 to Cecil and Joanna (Peveto) Richardson. Marie graduated from orangefield High School in 1961 and received a degree in secretarial science from Lamar School of Technology in 1963 then worked at Gulf States Utilities until she left to work with her husband in their meat market. Later she obtained her licensed vocational nurse's certificate and worked doing home health nursing until 2016 at which time she retired. She had 2 loving sons Jason (Bubba) and Joshua (Josh) Michael who meant the world to her. Marie enjoyed the outdoors and the many adventures with her sons from rodeos to quad racing. She enjoyed traveling in the motorhome and beating her sister, cecile, at scrabble or placing the last puzzle piece. She spent many hours tending to her many plants and kept the hummingbirds fed. Marie is preceded in death by her father Cecil Richardson in 1966, mother Joanna Peveto in 1987, brother Thomas "Jerry" Richardson in 1988 and Archie Carroll "A.C." Richardson in 2003 and her beloved fur baby "Daisy". Marie is survived by her sister Cecile Wright of China, sons Jason "Bubba" Michael of Kirbyville and Joshua "Josh" Michael and wife Debbie of Vidor, a grandson Brad Michael of Kirbyville and granddaughter Shyann Hatten of Grayson, Louisiana, step-grandchildren Rachel Herrick and husband James of Houston, Ryan Phillips and Shinea of Baytown and 5 great grandchildren Brynlee, Conrad, Harvey, Lexy and Leah. Visitation will begin at 6:00 pm Monday, January 29, 2018 at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. Services will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor with burial to follow at Mansfield Cemetery in Vidor. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society or Kindred Hospice.
