Mary Carolyn West

Mary Carolyn West, 66, of Vidor, TX., went to be with her Lord on Thursday, March 04, 2004. Carolyn was born in Camden, Polk County, Texas on July 2, 1937. Carolyn was raised and attended school in both Chester and Camden, Texas. After working for 30 years for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, she settled in Vidor, TX., after retirement. Carolyn was a member of the Eastern Star, Southwestern Bell Pioneers, a volunteer at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital, and taught Junior Achievement in both the Vidor and Beaumont Independent School Districts. She also did other volunteer work for both the Vidor and Beaumont Independent School Districts. She was nominated Citizen of the year in 2001. Funeral services will be Saturday, March 6, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor, with graveside services to be held at 2:00 p.m. at Feagin Cemetery in Hortense, TX. Visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, March 5, 2004 at Memorial Funeral Home. Carolyn was preceded in death by her father- Everett Scott Bracewell, mother- Martha Mae Bracewell, and brother- Lynwood Scott Bracewell. Survivors include her loving husband of 35 years- Gene T. Theo West, Sons, Gene West and his wife Gayle of Clear Lake, TX., Dan West of Nederland, TX., daughter- Kathy Robinson and her husband Ricky of Iuka, MS., step brother- Harvey Young of Texas City, TX., step mother- Annie Lee Bracewell of Cold Spring, TX., sister’s-in-law- Margaret Bracewell of Vidor, TX., and Maurine West of Baytown, TX., two grandchidlren, and two great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews, and a host of friends, and her beloved animals her dog- Sissy, and cat- Peeper’s. Carolyn requested in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: United Christian Care Center, 375 Claiborne or P.O. 487, Vidor, Texas 77662, or Local Animal Shelter.
