Mary Varteman Rains

Mary V. Rains, 85, of Vidor died Wednesday, December 2, 2009 at her daughters residence. A native of Swift/Nacogdoches, TX., she has lived in Vidor since 1970. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 5, 2009 at Pine Forest Baptist Church of Vidor under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor, with burial to follow at Restlawn Memorial Park in Vidor. Visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, December 4, 2009 at Memorial Funeral Home. She was preceded in death by her husband Luther Rains, parents Elward and Mary Flowers, and eleven brothers and sisters. Mary is survived by her daughter Mary Ann Rains Stowe and husband Kenneth of Houston, sons Mark Richard Rains and wife Susan of Deer Park, TX., and Mike Flowers Rains and wife Tammie of Vidor, eight grandchildren: Mary Elizabeth Rodriguez and husband Frank, Renee Spence and husband Joey, Richard Rains, Stephen Rains, Leslie Rains, Allen Stowe, Joshua Rains and wife Devon, and Colin Rains, five great grandchildren: Nicholas Rains, Mason Rains, Megan Rains, Paige Rains, and Noah Rains.
