Maude Woods

Maude Woods, age 89 died Tuesday, April 10, 2007 after a lengthy illness. She was born October 18, 1917 in Stowell, Texas to the late Renfro and Pearl Falke. She graduated in 1936 from Stowell High School as Valedictorian and senior class president. She subsequently graduated from Cheniers Business College. She married William Frank Woods March 27, 1943 and they made their home in Vidor. That year Maude and Frank founded Woods Super Market which still continues in operation today. Maude was a member of the Freeway Church of Christ, a charter member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority and was recognized as the 2002 Vidor citizen of the year. Maude is survived by her husband William Frank Woods, sons William Frank Woods, Jr. and wife Mary Jane, Ronald Eugene Woods and wife Kathy of Vidor, daughter Donna Smith and husband Steve of League City. She was preceded in death by son James Louis Falls. Grandchildren, Allison Woods of Rhome, Wendy and husband Jay of Leander, Leigh Ann Eskridge of Oklahoma City, OK., Ronald Elton and wife Kristy of Vidor, Michael Paul Woods of Woodlands, Laura Howard of Richmond, Julie Howard of Tyler, Jay Falls of Vidor, John Falls of Kingsland and Jeff Falls of Houston. Great grandchildren, Andy, Madison, and Emily Mask, Hayden and Landry Eskridge, Aubrey, Haley, and Lane Woods, Corbin Howard, Brooke, Jarron, Jayson, Jarrod, and Lee Falls. Brothers J.T. and Clara Falke of Robstown, Raymond Falke of Dayton, Ohio, sisters Pearl Gomer of Beaumont, Francis Smith of Silsbee and Jennie Falke of Winnie. Preceded in death by her parents, brothers Buster, Leonard, Leroy, James Earl, Leo, and Robert Falke and sister Nellie Smith. Maude will be dearly missed by her family and friends. She was a loving and giving person who brought much joy to all the lives she touched. Funeral services will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 12, 2007 at First Baptist Church of Vidor, under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor, with burial to follow at Restlawn Memorial Park in Vidor, TX. Visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 11, 2007 at First Baptist Church. The family wishes to express their appreciation to the employees of Oakwood Manor Nursing and Hospice of Texas for the care and consideration they provided during Maudes last days.
