Miriam Loraine Coleman

Mimi Coleman, 90, of Vidor went to walk with her Lord on Monday, July 22, 2013. A native of Hemphill, she has lived in Vidor since 1954, and was a retired office clerk with Smith Insurance Agency. Mimi was a longtime member of Pine Forest Baptist Church in Vidor. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 27, 2013 at Pine Forest Baptist Church in Vidor under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor, with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Beaumont. Visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, July 26, 2013 at Pine Forest Baptist Church in Vidor. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pine Forest Baptist Church Food and Flower Fund, 4800 N. Main St., Vidor, Texas 77662. Mimi was preceded in death by her husbands Joe Coleman, Bob Ashley, Clyde Simmons, and William 'Billy' Coggins, parents Eugene and Sallie Rice, Sr., sister Margaret Ashmore, and her brother Eugene Rice, Jr. Mimi is survived by her son Tommy Coggins and wife Carlotta, daughter Brenda Plumley and husband Ron, all of Vidor, two grandchildren, Leesa Engroff and husband Chris, and Kari Brumbaugh and husband Matthew, and three great grandchildren, Larsen Lindsay, Kaylee Engroff, and Canaan Brumbaugh. She was faithful to her church, serving as a 4 year old Sunday School teacher, choir member, and cashier for church meals. Throughout her life, Mimi worked many jobs, including laundry truck driver, school bus driver, switchboard operator, school secretary, church clerk, election official, and seamstress and owner of Mimi’s Notions. She also volunteered regularly as a blood drive coordinator. She enjoyed traveling and was involved in local motor home travel clubs, visiting 49 of the 50 states and abroad, including a cherished trip to the Holy Land. She was an avid crafter, excelling at crocheting, quilting, and needlework. She adored spending time laughing, crafting, and playing games with her family and friends. Her love for her family was only surpassed by her love for her Lord.
