Nellie Ruth Travis's journey of life came to a close on September 12, 2020. Nellie was born November 7, 1931. She graduated from Ball High School in Galveston, Texas, where she met the love of her life, Bobby Joe Travis. They were married for 59 years. Nellie was known as his "LiL Flower". Nellie was a very active citizen in the Vidor community, as she raised her four children. The activities she participated in were charities, PTO, Garden Club, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, Square Dancing and "Red Hatters". Her clubs were just a small portion of her activities, because being a mother to her 4 children was a full time job 24/7. Her job description included being a teacher of twirling, cheerleader, swimming, story teller, writing, creativity, sewing and being the perfect fan. Nellie a wife, a mother, a grandmother and great grandmother is survived by her four children; Lana Travis Cleveland, Laura Travis, John Travis and Lesa Travis Stroop. She had 11 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. She will be truly missed, but her life will live on in each and every heart she has touched. We have not lost a life but gained an angel to watch over us as we continue to celebrate her life though our sweet memories. Love You Forever. Visitation will begin at 6:00 pm Friday, September 18, 2020 at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, September 19, 2020 at Memorial Funeral Home with burial to follow at Restlawn Memorial Park in Vidor.
