Nildena Joyce Davis

February 27, 1946 — January 3, 2019

Nildena Joyce Davis, 72, a "native" of Anchorage, Alaska and a longtime resident of Vidor, Texas went to be with our Lord on Thursday, January 3, 2019. After a long battle with cancer, she passed peacefully at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont, Texas. Nildena was born on February 27, 1946 in Soledad, California to parents John Lewis and Dorothy Marie Ward Smith. She had two brothers Glen and Billy. She loved the natural beauty of Alaska where she earned her airplane and helicopter pilot licenses. On March 22, 1991 she married George Davis. She loved nature, especially butterflies, hummingbirds and the plants that thrived under her care. Her favorites were Bougainvillea, Desert Rose, Plumeria, Gerber Daisies and her specialty species of Aloe Vera. Her favorite "sport" was shopping and she could find some of the best bargains. Nildena is survived by her husband George Davis of Vidor; daughters Bambi Watts & husband Jeff of Mankato, Minnesota and Katrina Storjohann & husband Rusty of Phoenix, Arizona; stepdaughters Melanie Michalovich & husband Marc of Spring, Texas and Sherry Page & husband Ronnie of Huntsville, Alabama; four grandchildren Keegan Storjohann, Brie Watts, Alex Storjohann, Connor Watts; step grandchildren Michael Ivie, Kimber Smith, Dalton Ivie and Emily Page; brother Billy Smith; nieces Autumn Smith, Marie Platt, Kyle Smith, Jacob Smith, Shana Arnold and Bedina Lynn; several great step grandchildren, great nieces and nephews and her beloved Yorkie Ziva. Cremation arrangements were entrusted to Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother Glen and yorkies Precious & Shadow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Nildena's memory to the American Cancer Society at www.donate3.cancer.org.
