Norma Jean Barnes Merriman

Norma J. Merriman, 81 years young, died Wednesday, February 24, 2010 at her residence from a long illness. She was born to parents Bill and Mary Barnes. She was a member and past president of VFW Hall and Ladies Auxillary on Park Street. She enjoyed fishing, going to the lake, and the beach with her family. Graveside services will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 27, 2010 at Fountain Cemetery in Starks, Louisiana under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. Visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, February 26, 2010 at Memorial Funeral Home. Norma was preceded in death by her husband Ben Merriman, parents Bill and Mary Barnes, brothers William Barnes and Donnie Barnes. She is survived by her daughters Pat Lege Biehslick and Lynn Tynes both of Vidor, three grandchildren: Michael Watkins and Curtis Watkins both of Vidor, and Paula Kight of Lumberton, five great grandchildren: Patricia, Curtis II, Kasey, Brittany, and Blake, and one great-great granddaughter Hailey. The family would like to thank Pat Bass, Odyssey Health, and friends that took good care of our mother.
