Peggy lived in Orange, Texas, most of her life and graduated near the top of her class from Stark High School in 1959. She was extremely gifted intellectually and was fond of letting everyone know, “I can tolerate ignorance; it is stupidity I can’t stand.” In 1961 she married Robert Pierce Michael. She was her family’s most passionate cheerleader, defender, and caregiver and was fiercely devoted to her children, extended family, and friends. Having 5 children to raise, she felt compelled to make money in her father and brothers’ construction world. Her various job capacities ranged from office management, pipe-fabricator, and shipyard supervisor and she was one of the first women to be hired through Pipefitter Local 195. She even went so far as to design and help construct her own home helped by all ages of family members in 1982 and lived there until she was no longer able to live independently in 2017. No one could surpass her competitive nature and she loved to attend any relatives’ sporting event and holler, “Justice!!!” at the officials when they made what she thought was a poor call. Peggy personified Eccl. 9:10 “Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with all thy might…” She avidly loved reading, birds, animals, singing, music, writing poetry, and taking pictures. Whatever she did, she did with a zeal unmatched by anyone except her father. She took in many people with different needs; some needed advice, some a place to live, some food to eat, and some just needed support from a caring soul. Using her resources to minister to others gave her a great platform to line them out and send them in the way she thought they ought to go. Peggy always revered the Lord. Even as a teenager, she knew her family needed spiritual guidance, so she fervently prayed about her desire to congregate with other Christians. Shortly after, two soldiers of Christ knocked on the door and brought her entire family to the Lord for the remainder of their days. She never wavered in her faith and the Lord was faithful to carry her through tremendous trials and tribulations. There were multiple occasions where she was in great distress and prayed to her Savior and He answered with amazing love. Her last request was to escape this earthly body and go home…He has answered.
