Richard "Ricky" Herman Johnson

Richard "Ricky" Herman Johnson, 63 of Vidor, TX, passed away on Monday, August 30th, 2021 in Beaumont, TX, after a lengthy, strong fight with kidney failure. Ricky was born to James Evert "Jimmy" Johnson and Betty Lou Spears on August 23, 1958. He went to school in Vidor, TX. He married Cathy Dalfrey Segrest on April 10, 1988. He was a boilermaker and a musician. Ricky enjoyed playing his guitar and singing. He enjoyed spending time with his grandkids. He was known to have a sharp mind and was witty. He was a lifelong, avid Cowboy's fan and enjoyed watching all sports. Hard headed and short tempered, he would give the shirt off his back to help anyone he could. He will be missed by his family and friends, but he has gained his wings and his earthly body is healed. Visitation will begin at 12:00 pm and funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, September 5, 2021 at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor with burial to follow at Restlawn Memorial Park in Vidor. Officiating is Bill Navarre. Ricky was preceded in death by his loving wife Cathey Johnson, his mom Betty Love, his dad Jimmy Johnson, his step-dad Pleasant "Brad" Love, his sister Alice Love, his aunt Billie Jo Spears and his great niece Kayley Johnson. He is survived by his daughters Natashia Crowe of Seabrook, TX, Charie Johnson of Bridge City, TX, step-daughter Tawnya Strother and husband Robin of Lumberton, TX, step-son Joseph Segrest and wife Misty of Vidor, TX, brother Jay Johnson and wife Rosa of Atlanta, GA, sister Linda Palumbo of Vidor, TX, brother Barkley Wade Love and wife Phyllis of Orange, TX, sister Celese Love of BonWier, TX, grandchildren Hayden Segrest, Davis Lee Harper, Jayce Chesser, Peyton Odle, Kyra Odle, Corey Burkland and Shelly Burkland, nephews Luke Palumbo, Nathaniel Johnson, and Zackary Johnson, great nieces Kinsly Johnson, and a host of family and friends who will miss him. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Vanessa Bailey Dale and Lucy Constance and Missy Bates for thier care and compassion in these difficult times.
