Robert B. Houseman

Robert “Bobby” B. Houseman, 68, of Vidor died Wednesday, September 8, 2004 at his residence in Vidor. A native of Groves, TX., he resided in Vidor for the past 42 years. Bobby was a 1955 graduate of Port Neches-Groves High School and attended Texas AM in College Station, TX and Lamar University in Beaumont, TX., where he later taught appraisal classes for ten years. He was a member of Masonic Lodge # 1315 in Groves and was a member of First Baptist Church in Vidor. Bobby was very active in Vidor and Orange County, he served as President of the Vidor Chamber of Commerce in 1964, Board of Directors for Orange County United Fund, Secretary of Treasure for Vidor Children’s Fund, Board of Directors for the Salvation Army, Board of Directors for the Sabine Area Boy Scouts Chapter, and Vice Chairman of Lamar State College in Orange. Bobby also served on the board for Orange County Appraisal District 1980-1995, Vidor Independent School District Tax Equalization 1978-1981, City of Vidor Tax Equalization 1970-1981, Appraisal Institute Sabine Area Chapter 1985-1993, Lamar University Orange Foundation 1988- present, Orange Savings Bank 2001- present, and Orange County Water and Improvement District #1 2001 - present. Bobby was the owner of Restlawn Memorial Park in Vidor and Bobby Houseman Real Estate. Funeral services will be held at 10:00. a.m. Saturday, September 11, 2004 at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor, with entombment to follow at Restlawn Memorial Park in Vidor. Visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m. Friday, September 10, 2004 at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. He is survived by his wife Donna Jones Houseman of Vidor, TX., daughter: Susan Rains of Deer Park, TX., step-sons: James Hale and his wife Kathy of Groves, TX., Greg Hale and his wife Gina of Nederland, TX., Ken Hale of Port Arthur, TX., 3 grandsons and 5 step-grandchildren.
