Robert Ervin Brannon

January 22, 1947 — April 24, 2023

Robert “Bobby” Ervin Brannon, a long-time resident of Vidor, passed from this earth on April 24, 2023 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont, Texas.

Bobby was born January 22, 1947 in Beaumont to Frank Brannon, Sr. and Ruby Brannon.

He was raised in Sour Lake, by his mother and step-father, Ernest Hogg, after his father’s passing in 1954.

Bobby was so eager to serve his country, he altered his age on enlisting documents to join the US Navy. He began proudly serving his country at the age of 17! While in the Navy, his aircraft carrier the USS Wasp retrieved astronauts and spacecraft after the return landing from human spaceflight missions. After being discharged from the Navy, he worked as a police officer in Vidor. He later became an operations supervisor at ExxonMobil in Beaumont, where he retired in 2012.

Bobby met Beverly, his loving wife of 57 years, during a deployment in Massachusetts. They were married in 1966 and later had 2 daughters and 5 grandchildren, which brought him some of the greatest joy of his life. Bobby could often be found on a ball field coaching or cheering on those he most adored. He enjoyed the simplest things this world has to offer — a hot bowl of beans and rice with a side of corn bread, a good crawfish boil, some time at a winning slot machine, working in the yard, vacations at the beach with his family, fixing all things, and drinking an ice-cold Miller Lite.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Beverly Brannon; daughters: Kimberly Carter and Kerry Brannon; grandchildren: Baylee Brannon (Bradley Korman), Ty Carter, Chase Carter, Kayden Brannon, and Kylie Brannon; great-grandson: Kolson Korman; brothers: Frank Bennie Brannon Jr. (Michelle), Gary Hogg (Dana), Steve Hogg and Cleve Hogg (Patti). He was preceded in death by his father, Frank Brannon, Sr., mother and step-father, Ruby and Ernest Hogg.
