Russell Gene Reich Sr.

Russell G. Reich Sr., 80, of Vidor died Saturday, January 13th, 2024 at HCA Hospital in Cypress, Texas. He was born in Basile, Louisiana on September 5th, 1943 to Orville E. Reich and Blanche M. (Chaumont) Reich. He graduated from Vidor High School at the age of 17 and married his high school sweetheart. He was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force, from which he retired as Master Sergeant after 20 years of service. He then went on the work as a Crane Operator for over 30 years before retiring. He enjoyed reading, traveling, and working on cars, but above all he loved spending time with his family. He was a dedicated father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and never missed the opportunity to show his support. From football games, to cheer competitions, dance recitals, school programs and everything in between; no matter the distance, “Pawpaw” would be there smiling from the crowd.

Russell is survived by his wife of 63 years, Pamela Reich of Vidor, TX, his son Russell Reich Jr. and wife Marlene of Vidor, TX, his son Randall Reich of Jasper, TX, his sisters Lou Ann Bayne of San Antonio, TX and Robin Somogyi of La Vernia, TX, his brothers Rocky Reich of Lumberton, TX, and Ronnie Reich of Vidor, TX, as well as 6 grandchildren, including Chris Auster and wife Carrie of Bridge City, TX, Holli Novak and husband Nick of Vidor, TX, Madison Emerson and husband Austin of Bridge City, TX, Bailey Reich of Denham Springs, LA, Kaci Reich of Jasper, TX, and Allison Reich, of Vidor, TX, and 4 great-grandchildren including Chloe and Madeleine of Bridge City, TX and Blakely and Palmer of Vidor, TX.

He is preceded in death by his parents Orville E. and Blanche M. Reich, his brothers Elvin Duane Reich and Richard Reich, and his sisters Rose Dorchuck and Ruth Duncan.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. There will be a visitation Thursday, January 18, 2024 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. The funeral service will be held Friday, January 19, 2024 at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park.
