Shirley Jean Norton, 87 passed away on Wednesday, July 19, 2023, at Rayburn Health and Rehabilitation in Jasper, TX. Shirley was born in Edom, TX, and had been a longtime resident of Vidor, Texas, for the majority of her life. Throughout her working years, Shirley found fulfillment at Family Dollar, where she retired after years of dedicated service. She was known for her love of cooking and her talent for creating a warm and inviting home. Her impeccable sense of home decor made her living space a reflection of her heart - welcoming, cozy, and filled with love. Above all, Shirley's greatest joy came from spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Family was at the center of her world, and she cherished every moment shared with them, creating memories that will be cherished for generations to come. Friends and loved ones are invited to pay their respects during the visitation beginning at 6:00 pm on Thursday, July 20, 2023, at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. The funeral service to celebrate Shirley's remarkable life will take place at 10:00 am on Friday, July 21, 2023, also at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor, followed by her burial at Restlawn Memorial Park in Vidor. Shirley leaves behind a loving legacy, survived by her three children: Shirlon Henderson and her husband Charles Jr. of Baytown, TX; Mark Norton and his wife Gay of Jasper, TX; Wesley Norton of Vidor, TX. She was a proud grandmother to five grandchildren and a doting great-grandmother to five great-grandchildren. Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Joe Norton, Additionally, she mourned the loss of her cherished granddaughter, Ami Henderson, whose memory she held close to her heart.
