Thomas Gilbert Jones entered this world on July 5th, 1920, in Beaumont, Texas. He was the son of Thomas Edgar Jones and Thelma Davis Jones. He married Wilma Langford Jones on February 15, 1941. He was in the Army, a veteran of WWII and achieved the rank of Technical Sergeant. He worked for Mobil Oil Corporation for 34 years and retired in 1980. His last position was Process Supervisor. He was a Baptist and a member of Vidor Masonic Lodge #1286. Funeral services will be Thursday, July 7, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor, with burial to follow at Magnolia Cemetery in Beaumont, TX. Visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 6, 2005 at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Gilbert and Wilma celebrated 64 wedding anniversaries and the birth of six children. Along the way, they were joined by sons- and daughters-in-law, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Gilbert was a quiet, reserved man with a curious mind and an eye for detail. He loved his home and family. A mischievous sense of humor was shown to those close to him. He never tired of listening to and sharing music. His favorites were Big Band, Dixieland and Jazz. He was fascinated by all things to do with space and electronics. He was preceded in death by both of his brothers, William Edgar Jones and Charles Ray Jones. He is survived by his wife, Wilma and his sons: Thomas G. Jones, Jr. and wife, Nelda, of Beaumont; and Charles E. Jones and wife, Valarie, of Brandon, Florida; and daughters: Beth Phillips and husband, Bobby; Sarah Jones Linscomb and husband, Doug; Jeanie Jones Righter, all of Vidor; and Georgia Kay McKinley and husband, Jerry , of Lumberton. Grandchildren include: Tammy Bell and husband, Jarrett, of Nederland; Kimberly Goodman of Austin; Thomas Andrew Jones and wife, Sally, of Beaumont; Rebecca Lanae Phillips of Vidor; Scott Allan Phillips of Vidor; Jesse Lane McKinley and wife, Tiffany, of Baytown; Jimi Erbelding of Beaumont; Jaime Allen and husband, Randy, of Warren; Danielle Righter White and husband, Michael, of Lumberton; and Zachary James Righter of Vidor. Great Grandchildren include: Jacie, Jarrae, Jalie and Jadon Bell of Nederland; Timothy Jones of Lumberton; James Serio of Beaumont; Patricia Elizabeth Phillips of Vidor, Zachary, Billy, and Luke Allen of Warren. A niece, Charlotte Jones of Abilene, was especially close to his heart. He is also survived by sisters-in-law Rosie Smith Jones of Jasper, Dorothy Langford Hooper of Beaumont, and Nadine Langford Kaine of Lakeway, Texas. Cousins, nieces and nephews abound in Texas and Mississippi to the third and fourth generation. He left this world on his 85th birthday, July 5th, 2005. Pallbearers will be his sons, sons-in-law and grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be surviving members of Beaumont High School Class of 1939, better known as ‘The Dinosaurs’. He will be missed. A special Thank You is due to the nurses at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital. They were the embodiment of kindness, gentleness and generosity to us during this difficult time.
