Van Wayne Williams

March 3, 1932 — February 15, 2006

Van Williams, 73, of Vidor died Wednesday, February 15, 2006 at his residence. A native of Luling, TX., he has lived in Vidor for 67 years, and was a retired brick mason after 43 years, with the last 12 years being with U.S. Steel. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a proud and active member, and Deacon of First Baptist Church of Vidor. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 18, 2006 at First Baptist Church of Vidor, under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor, with burial to follow at Restlawn Memorial Park in Vidor, TX., pallbearers for the service will be Robert Belcher, ConRoy Hughes, Jr., Arnold “Buddy” Bearden, Theodore “Ted” Hanchey, Richard Frost, and Manuel Vera, with the Deacons of First Baptist Church of Vidor being honorary pallbearers. Visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, February 17, 2006 at First Baptist Church of Vidor. He was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Clista Williams, and brother Frank N. Williams. He is survived by his wife of 52 years Elsie Williams of Vidor, son, John Paul Williams and wife Mona of Vidor, daughters, Cathy McNeely and husband Chuck of Vidor, and Cindy Goodding and husband John of Longview, TX., eight grandchildren: Beth Landry and husband Jeremy, Tonya McNeely, Sarah Goodding, Micah Goodding, Kristah Goodding, Kalyn Williams, Jonathan Williams, and Karli Williams, and one great granddaughter: Layni Beth Landry. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: The Nehemiah’s Vision at First Baptist Church of Vidor, 410 N. Main St., Vidor, TX. 77662, or Missionary Tech in Longview, 25 FRJ Dr., Longview, TX. 75602.
