Vernon Doil Smith

Vernon D. Smith, 68 of Vidor died Sunday, August 16th, 2020 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont. A Native of Newton, TX, he was a lifelong resident of Vidor. Vernon was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Vidor. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force as a sergeant. Vernon enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing his guitar, song writing and singing. Visitation will begin at 1:00 pm and funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, August 22, 2020 at The Church of the Nazarene Church burial to follow at Restlawn Memorial Park in Vidor. Vernon was preceded in death by his parents William G. and Dollie Smith, sisters Gloria L. Birch and Vivian O. Smith. He is survived by his brother Preston G. Smith and his wife Charlene of Montrose, IA, sister Devonna Williams of Vidor, TX, numerous nieces and nephews. Pastor Brent Smith(Nephew) of Durant, OK, will be officiating the services. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Church of the Nazarene in Vidor.
