Virgil Franklin Cooley

August 13, 1919 — October 12, 2005

Virgil F. Cooley, 86, of Vidor died Wednesday, October 12, 2005 at Dogwood Trails Nursing Home in Woodville, TX. A native of Drumwright, Oklahoma he has lived in Vidor for 10 years, and was a retired general laborer with Exxon-Mobil. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II during D-DAY, and a member of the Vidor VFW post # 8246. Graveside services will be 1:15 p.m. on Monday, October 17, 2005 at The Houston National Cemetery, all under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. Visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 16, 2005 at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. He was preceded in death by his parents James and Mary Ann Cooley, and his daughter Louise Cooley. He is survived by his sons, David Cooley, and John Cooley both of Vidor, and Virgil W. Cooley of Groves, TX., daughter, Betty Nell Cooley of Florida, special friend Sharon Greathouse of Vidor, and four grandchildren.
