Virginia Carolene Wells

June 10, 1932 — February 10, 2011

Virginia Carolene Warford Wells was born on June 10, 1932, in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Her earthly journey peacefully ended on February 10, 2011, at her home surrounded by her adoring family. Carolyn, as she was known, or \"Granny\" was the epitome of pure love. She never had a harsh or negative word to say about anyone and thought her children and grandchildren could do no wrong. She loved her family with every ounce of her being and was content staying home raising her four children and always ready to help with her grandchildren at a moments notice. She moved to the rural area of Lakeview with her husband and four young children and quickly adapted to life in the country by learning to shoot snakes in the three lakes behind their house, gather eggs and feed and milk the cow. The closest shed been to the country prior to this drastic change of lifestyle had been an occasional Sunday drive, so this was a major change in her life and quite a shock. She learned to love living in the country, though, and never wanted to leave her home of 53 years. Her health deteriorated after the passing of her husband of 46 years. She eventually had family members help care for her, but she always remained on the property her young family had moved to so many years before. She had been seriously ill since October of 2010 and had many stays in the hospital and 2 nursing homes. Her greatest desire was to go home to be with her family and her little Yorkie dog, Precious, and she returned home for the last time almost two weeks ago. The family expected her to have many more months at home but this precious ladys heart was weak and gave out quickly and unexpectedly. We are comforted that she was able to return home for her final journey and that she had a deep and profound love of the Lord and faith that she would be reunited with her family that had gone on before her. One of the last things she said was that she knew Jesus was waiting for her, and we have no doubt that she was met with open and loving arms and is now where we all want to be one day.

Mrs. Wells is survived by her four children, Charles Wells, Jr., Kaye Millican and husband Mike, Patricia Jenkins and husband Billy, all of Vidor, Texas, and Dennis Wells and wife Cheryl of Doha, Qatar. Surviving grandchildren are Tiffany Wells of Baytown, Texas, Josh Millican of Beaumont, Texas, Matt Wallace and wife Megan of Houston, Texas, Jon Michael Wallace and wife Candice of Nederland, Texas, Trey Jenkins of Vidor, Texas, and special granddaughter Meredith Wells of Vidor, Texas who helped care for her granny this past year. Great-grandchildren are Lyndon, Meadow and Allea Bob; Gavin Wells; Adelyn, Aidan, Alyse and Ava Millican; and Analiese Wallace. Mrs. Wells husband, Charles Wells, Sr., and grandson, Jordan Millican, predeceased her.
The family would like to thank Dr. Nate Marchand who took mom on as a new patient and gave her excellent care under the most adverse conditions; wonderful caretakers Ruth Cooper and Gwen Smith; and the outstanding staff and organization of Odyssey Hospice who provided amazing support, comfort and care and made an extremely difficult time the absolute best it could be under the circumstances. Mom was an ordinary person who made the lives of those around her extraordinary by her love and kindness and made us all want to be better by her example. She will be greatly missed and her memories always cherished. Its not goodbye Mom - its see you later.
